Sleep, Light, and your Bio-circadian rhythm. One of the first areas of life I focus on as a coach with clients is sleep. If you aren't sleeping well, nothing else seems to go well, either! There are some very simple changes that can be made to improve sleep. Experiment with no screens at least 30-60 minutes before bed. Treat your bedroom like your personal relaxation cave...keep it cool, dark, and comfy. No TVs, computers, cell phones or other light sources are allowed in your relaxation cave. Give some of these ideas a try and see if you can improve the quality of your rest and rejuvenation. The body needs quality rest to heal, the immune system requires rest to function at 100%, and your mental state will also improve. You will feel more alert, relaxed, and creative when you have a solid 8 to 9 hours of sleep each night! DawnSongRising.com

Dirt Therapy: Seed Porn. I love the week in December that all the seed catalogs begin to arrive in my mailbox. I flip through the beautiful pictures of fifty different varieties of tomatoes, dreaming of growing vegetables as amazing as the ones shown in these catalogs. The funny thing is, I don't even like raw tomatoes, but the pictures make me want to grow all of them! I will spend hours after the arrival of these catalogs salivating over the written descriptions of watermelons and planning all of the amazing veggies and flowers I will plant in next Spring's garden. Like any addict, I make a long list of all the new seeds I need to buy to fulfil the 'Spring DREAM Garden'! However, when I plow through my massive collection of paper packets and plastic baggies of seeds given to me by neighbors and friends, I realize that I already have everything I really need. I have plenty of seeds! I have supportive friends and a local gardening community that are generous with time, advise, and extra seedlings and seeds! Why in the world would I want MORE? My response is totally natural and expected by Capitalistic Media, Magazines and the sneaky marketing messages that have conditioned me to respond in this way. None of us is immune to the sweet allure of this crafty kind of trap. Recognizing it for what it is, (PORN!) and being grateful for the amazing life I have is the only way to wake up from my consumption-driven, marketing-induced coma and truly LIVE in an INTENTIONAL and MINDFUL way. I still love gazing through the catalogs, but with a grateful heart, I realize that throwing money at slick marketing, trying to acheive something different means I am not accepting the amazing box of blessings I already have. I hope you find gratitude for your box of blessings this holiday season and plant them in the new year! DawnSongRising.com

Dirt Therapy: Growth and Evolution. I am sad to say that DawnSong Rising will no longer have a brick and mortar office space after December. I am not entirely sure where or how DawnSong Rising is morphing and evolving, but I am secure in the knowledge that I have embarked on a beautiful path and a mindful way of living that supports my personal and professional values. I am grateful and in awe of all of the spectacular and spirited individuals that I have encountered along the way and look forward to cultivating more awareness and genuine friendships and connection in 2020. Peace and Blessings - DawnSongRising.com

Adventure Time: There comes a time when I get itchy to get outdoors and breathe fresh, clean air and be away from crowds, shopping, school, and traffic. My time has come and my daughter and I will spend the next week camping and hiking across the Texas southwest. It will be our first time to see the Rio Grande and the Chihuahuan Desert. Sharing time, stars, and nature with my outdoor enthusiast away from screens and cell phone signals is a dream come true. I hope you all have a joyful, peaceful, and safe Thanksgiving!
